Three-Course Microsoft Access Series

The Microsoft Access 3-course series is geared towards two groups of students. The obvious objective of this Access series is to become familiar with the tool Microsoft Access and eventually learn how to build and manage complex database systems.

Taking this Access series will also teach you in detail how to design and build databases, develop database applications using forms and reports, and automate database processes using macros and VBA code using the tool of Microsoft Access. Therefore, anyone who is new to the field of databases should definitely consider taking this series.

This series of courses is offered in a three-tiered approach to meet the needs of differing levels of experience. You need not take the entire series, however, provided you have the prerequisite experience to enter each course at the appropriate level. Each course meets on 5 Saturdays (see Course Dates). Each Saturday class consists of one morning section (8:30am-11:30am) and one afternoon section (12:30pm - 3:30pm).

Each of these courses are offered for academic credit (2 semester units in EECS). There are 4 homework assignments (best 3 out of 4 are graded), 4 quizzes (best 3 out of 4 are graded), and one take-home final (usually project based). You have the choice of the following grade options:

  • Credit Letter Grade (CLG)
  • Credit Pass/Not Pass (CP/NP)
  • Not for Credit (NC)
